This is a printed copy of our 24hr Consumer Information line
Hello and Thank you for calling our 24 hour information line, Firstly let me introduce myself, my name is Patrick Johnson, and I'm the owner of Enviro-Pure Air Care, we specialize in residential air duct cleaning and are considered to be experts in this field. Our business philosophy has always been to provide the consumer with the best possible service in the industry at a reasonable price and backed with a 100% satisfaction guarantee.
Our intention here is to educate the consumer enough so that they may confidently make the right choice when selecting an air duct cleaning contractor.
Through our extensive field experience we have discovered that most homeowners feel they are very uninformed when it comes to the principals and practices of proper air duct cleaning hygiene, they also feel that they are in a vulnerable position when it comes to choosing a reputable duct cleaning company, in fact, with companies charging anywhere from from $150.00 right up to $650.00 it is no wonder the consumer has a difficult time in making their selection.
We have put together this short information audio in an effort to alleviate that confusion, by giving you with the basic information necessary to gain a good understanding of what to expect from a qualified air duct cleaning professional.
Let me begin by saying this... The National Air Duct Cleaners Association as well as the environmental protection agency have stated that residential air duct cleaning in the average size home, should take no less that between 3 and 6 hours to complete, anything short of this and you are probably not getting what you're paying for. They also caution consumers against companies that claim to be able to clean your entire air duct system for a unrealistic low price and in a very short period of time, in this industry that kind if service is completely unacceptable and is known as the BLO and GO method of duct cleaning.
Companies that operate in this fashion will typically schedule 4 or 5 duct cleaning appointments per day and spend about 1 or 2 hours on each job, they will then have to rush out of your home in an effort to meet their next appointment deadline. When you consider that it take approximately a 1/2 an hour just to set up all of the equipment, it leaves them very little time to actually do any duct cleaning.
Remember...the governing authorities have stated that anything less than between 3 and 6 hour for the average size home and you are probably not getting a thorough job!
We've also noticed from past experience that most homeowners are under the impression that the Main ducts and vents are the only components that require cleaning, however this is not at all the case, once again the national air duct cleaners association and the EPA have stated that residential air duct cleaning must include all surfaces in which the air moves across. This not only includes the the main duct and vents but must also include the furnace conveyance compartment the heat exchanger and the air conditioning coils, they also go onto say that their should never be any additional charges for this service
This brings us to another point, consumers are also advised to be aware of companies that advertise one low price and then try to up sell their services once they are in your home. All to often employees are instructed to try and sell you other products or services in an effort to inflate their low advertised price, in fact much of the employees salary is based on the commission they receive for up selling these products and services.
It is also important for consumers to be cautious of any air duct cleaning companies that offers to perform technical services to the actual furnace or air conditioning equipment, there have been many reports of duct cleaning companies that claim to be able to do furnace and A/C tune ups, as well as maintenance and inspections. I can't stress how important it is for you to understand that duct cleaning technicians DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT possess the educational skills and proper licensing required by law to do any kind of maintenance to the furnace or air conditioning equipment. this also means that none of the components can be altered or removed during the duct cleaning procedure.
The only exception to the aforementioned rule would be if a separate licensed heating and air conditioning technician was being brought in to do the actual service work, in which case, you would be wise to ask for proof of their qualifications.
Consumers must fully understand that air duct cleaning is no substitute for what a licensed Heating and Air conditioning Technician will do on your furnace when it comes to doing a scheduled furnace inspection and maintenance.
If you allow any unlicensed individuals to mess around with the heating and air conditioning system in your home you may be putting yourself and your family at risk.
Now on a final note, it is important to understand that a complete and thorough duct cleaning will only be as good as the technician performing the work, and since employees readily come and go in this industry, it is difficult to know if you will be getting a new employee who is just learning the ropes or one who has aquired the actual skills and field experience that you deserve
So in summary, when selecting your next air duct cleaning contractor be sure to choose only those that adhere to the National Air Duct Cleaners Association and EPA's strict guidelines and only those that are fully licensed, insured and members in good standing with their local trade associations as well as the Better business bureau, also remember that a 100 % satisfaction guarantee should be in place, anything short of this and you may literally be left in the dust.
